The following is an article from the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce Magazine.
Burlington County’s business community thrives on diversity, resilience, and connection. Among its greatest strengths are the women-owned businesses that not only bring innovation and creativity, but also foster mentorship, collaboration, and civic engagement.
The stories of four Chamber members — Robin Winzinger of Robin’s Nest, Andrea Torre of The Torre Studios, Diane Kane of The Happy Cat Hotel & Spa, and Pam Boyd of Thomas/Boyd Communications — show how women entrepreneurs are deeply rooted in the community and how their businesses enrich Burlington County in unique ways.
A Culinary Institution: Robin’s Nest
For nearly four decades, Robin’s Nest has been a Burlington County staple. Chef and owner Robin Winzinger built her restaurant at a time when the culinary industry was overwhelmingly male-dominated.
“There was a lot of push back 37 years ago because I am a woman in a man’s world,” she recalls.
Inspired by her mother, who ran a successful construction company, Robin stood her ground and proved that leadership and resilience know no gender. Her leadership style is hands-on and values-driven.
“Don’t ask an employee to do something you wouldn’t do yourself,” she says, quoting her father’s advice.
Over the years, Robin’s Nest has become more than a restaurant; it is also an incubator for young people entering the workforce. Robin takes pride in employing local youth and watching them “fly from the Nest” into future careers.
Chef and restaurateur Robin Winzinger has turned Robin’s Nest into a Burlington County staple, serving farm-to-fork dishes while mentoring the next generation.
The restaurant’s farm-to-fork philosophy supports Burlington County’s agricultural roots, showcasing seasonal produce from local farms and creating signature dishes such as the award-winning Chilled NJ Blueberry Soup. Robin’s success demonstrates how a woman-owned business can grow into a beloved institution while nourishing both people and community.
Preserving Legacies: The Torre Studios
For Andrea Torre, owner of The Torre Studios, business is both an inheritance and a calling. Her studio, founded by her parents more than 70 years ago, is one of Burlington’s oldest continuously operating businesses. Andrea honors that legacy while putting her own mark on it, helping clients see their true worth and beauty through portraits that become treasured heirlooms.
“My parents built this business on principles of quality, integrity, and genuine care for every client,” Andrea explains. That philosophy remains at the heart of The Torre Studios.
